Short bio: I received my Ph.D. in Information Studies from University of Maryland (advised by Prof. Eun Kyoung Choe), MS in Information Science and Technology from Penn State, and BEng in Computer Science from Southeast University, respectively. I also interned as a UX researcher at Meta (People Engineering) and Google (Android) during my Ph.D. study.

During my Ph.D. study, I explored multimodal input as a means of enhancing data richness and self-reflection, to promote positive behavior changes across several health and wellbeing contexts. Building on this, I developed a set of interests around metacognition and emotion, both important forces shaping many health behaviors. My current work thus spans designing AI systems that support metacognitive processes and connect with human emotionally, and understanding emotion expression through embodied interaction and therapeutic arts.
